Major Crehan was transferred from The Irish Fusiliers of Canada to command A Company of the Royal Irish Fusiliers in the summer of 1944. He was killed in a German counterattack during the Irish Brigade’s first attack on Monte Spaduro.

Lieutenant Cramb, a South African volunteer and university graduate, was killed in a night attack on Casa Spinello on 21 October 1944. He was standing by Lieutenant Nicholas Mosley when he called out: “God have mercy on my soul,” and then fell and died (Time at War, Nicholas Mosley). He was the son of Percival and Olga Cramb of Pretoria.

Major Boyd joined the London Irish Rifles from the Royal Ulster Rifles following the Battle of Cassino. He was appointed commander of E Company to replace Mervyn Davies, who had been wounded in the left arm and in the leg in the successful attack on Casa Spinello the previous day.

He was attached to the 1stBattalion of the Royal Irish Rifles in the Tunisian battles in 1943 and fell into a slit trench during darkness on the night of 20 January. He broke his leg. Brady was promoted to the temporary rank of assistant captain on 19 January 1943.

Lieutenant Albert Parish was accompanying commander of the Faughs John Coldwell-Horsfall after a night raid on 19 December 1944 when a mortar bomb exploded close by. Parish was killed, and Coldwell-Horsfall suffered serious leg injuries. When he recovered, he was posted to the staff of Army HQ. Coldwell-Horsfall returned to the Irish Brigade as commander of the 2nd Battalion of the London Irish Rifles when it took up occupation duties in southern Austria after the end of the war.
