Mervyn Davies Remembers

Major Mervyn Davies was Officer Commanding (OC) of E Company, London Irish Rifles (2 LIR) during 1944 and 1945.

He led E Company in their part of the assault at Casa Sinagoga on 16th May 1944 and the advance through the Liri Valley to Ripi. Mervyn Davies was later awarded the Military Cross for his actions at Monte Spaduro in October 1944, where he was wounded before returning to the battalion in early 1945 and joined the Irish Brigade’s final victorious advance through the Argenta Gap.
