8 platoon sergeant in E Company. Killed in a foxhole by a nebelwerfer following the attack on Sinagoga. The nebelwerfer also killed Corporal Edward O'Reilly, MM (see above). Mayo's MM citation can be found on the History of the London Irish Rifles page.
